(Real stories from people who have experienced our methods first hand.)

(Oct 27 2007) Chinook and Sid are doing great after their session with Scott. I was offered a spot at a clinic Scott was holding not far from where I live. My two year old Morgan gelding Simon was in need of some work so I jumped at the chance. Scott discussed with me what I was looking at getting accomplished with Simon and then worked him in the round pen. Simon has had a pretty cushy life since coming to me almost a year ago.

I have played with Simon but not really worked him. Scott did some rope work, paying attention to the back feet as I was having trouble trimming Simon's back feet. Scott saddled him and even though I have blanketed Simon and used pads on him, Simon sure blew into a bucking horse when asked to move with a saddle on. I was very happy that Scott was there and was in a very safe round pen.

Scott taught Simon how to lead from another horse and trailer loading went easy, or at least Scott made it look easy. Sunday after the clinic I managed to trim Simon's back feet with very few problems. Simon loaded into the trailer without much fuss. Scott had shown me how to block Simon and only leave the trailer door as the opening. Simon tried once or twice to push into me but with the technique Scott taught me, I was able to have him loading willingly.

I hope to spend more time with Scott as I get Simon started under saddle. It is much easier to do it right the first time then try to fix the problems later. Thanks again Scott and Rachel for all of your help. (...more) Paddi Sprecher, Devon Alberta

I acquired a morgan gelding in July 2001. His feet were in dire need of a good trimming. A farrier came and managed to trim his front feet. The back feet were a different story, however. There was no way that farrier was touching those back feet! Unfortunately, I knew a lot less then than I know now and allowed him to tie his back leg up. As my horse stood there so scared, sweat pouring off his whole body like rain, I thought, “There has to be a better way than this”. Especially since this torture did not even work, and he still could not trim the horse's back feet.

A month later another fellow came out: same thing. He could trim the front feet but not the back. However, I have much to thank this fellow for, as he was the one who recommended Scott Abeyta. I phoned Scott and explained the situation. He was confident that he could help my horse. He came to my place with his portable round pen and worked with my horse for less than an hour. He then proceeded to trim ALL 4 of his feet as the horse calmly stood there without anyone even holding onto him! Scott accomplished all this without hurting or scaring my horse and the horse has been excellent with his feet ever since. This is just one example of how well the methods used by Scott work. This man definitely has a way with horses. Laurie Clark, Edson Alberta

I have been riding for 30 years and, I admit I always used to like to run and wanted a horse that could not stand still until….I got a new horse and I bit the dust too many a time. I did not have the training to handle this type of behavior, and was really feeling low and had lost my self confidence.

Scott was recommended to me by a local barrel racer. I phoned him up and he came right over, and I mean right over. Among the many things that he has taught me is how to be able to load my own horse into the trailer, without me getting in the trailer first, or pulling, bribing, or whacking the horse. This horse used to flip over outside the trailer, and he had been trailer trained before, so they said. In his mind, the trailer was not a good place to be. Scott and his methods helped my horse to see that it really was a good place to be. Now, both of my horses leap in, and I mean leap.

Another thing that impressed me with Scott is the way he interacts with his students. I have found him to be very understanding in regards to a person’s fears. His calm, kind nature just draws you to him. He has earned the trust that is so needed by his students. In turn I have learned to be more calm and understanding myself, and, both of my horses are reaping the benefits. I really do not know where I would be without his wonderful help. I am so glad I found him. Natalie Schuck, Edson Alberta
